From Design to Jewelry Visualization

My name is Vasyl Skoretskyi, and my path to jewelry visualization has been quite diverse.
In 1999, I entered Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv to study physics. During my studies, I realized that what drew me most was creativity — I wanted not only to understand how the world works, but also to create something myself.
Later, I realized that those years of studying an exact science had left an important mark on the way I approach my work. Jewelry visualization requires an exceptional level of precision — in form, proportions, materials, lighting, and the smallest details. Today, that technical mindset combines naturally with the creative side of what I do.
After university, I worked as a designer and architect. Later, I became involved in creating a television program about renovations and interiors. That was where I began working with 3D animation and visualization.
At that point, jewelry visualization was still quite far away. But I enjoyed the process itself — creating something in 3D, watching an idea gradually take shape, and then seeing it find its way into the real world.
In 2014, I fully moved into the field of jewelry visualization. I became fascinated by the process — from building a precise 3D model to working with materials, lighting, and details that allow you to see a jewelry piece before it actually exists.
In 2019, I founded Virtual Gems. By then, I had already been working in jewelry visualization for several years and realized that this was the direction I wanted to pursue further. That is how Virtual Gems came to life — a studio fully dedicated to jewelry visualization.
Today, Virtual Gems remains a continuation of that journey for me. I am still fascinated by taking an idea, developing it in 3D, and gradually turning it into a visual representation that can be seen before the piece itself is created. Perhaps that opportunity — to see something that does not yet exist — is what I still find most fascinating about my work.
